1967 - Rituraj Singh (born May 23)Theatre and television actor, Rituraj Singh has been doing what he is best at.. acting for almost 20 years now and still gives the younger lot a run for their money.

1973 - Jaya Mathur (born 23 May) has done movies by Ram Gopal Verma, Ashutosh Gowarekar, Ketan Desai, Raj Kumar Kohli. Currently playing the role of Step Mother in Doli Saja Ke on Sahara One as Maya.

1980 - Karishma Randhawa (born 23 May), the very pretty and endearing actress essayed the role of a bubbly schoolgirl in the popular soap ‘Hello Dollie’ which was aired on Star Plus. This young actress has also played the lead role in the internationally acclaimed movie called ‘Ants’.

2000 - May 23 Noted British actor Sir John Gielgud passes away.
