Making a mark… Yashita and Vaishali of Zee Saregamapa Challenge 2009,

This weeks Saregamapa Challenge 2009 was dedicated to the Parents. The parents of all the contestants were called for the episode and the ones who could not make it ( read disapproves) like Sara’s father and Aasma’s father (who’s visa has been confiscated), were connected via telephone. They could actually hear them singing live.
 
It takes guts and courage to take one bold step. Grit and determination are the key words which define the strength and stamina of Yashita and Vaishali who have fought against all odds to reach up to this level. Yashita lost her father at a very tender age . Her mother had to fight against all odds to get her where she is today. They just had the bare essentials to survive. Her mother recounts the poignant tale of how she made both the ends meet while looking for an employment. Today Yashita is living her fathers dreams (who himself was a struggling singer) through Saregamapa.
 
Vaishali, the Zee Marathi saregamapa winner considers her husband as her soul mate and her god. Her parents had abandoned her long before and the fact that she is a dalit  further added to her woes. It was only because of her husband’s support  and encouragement that she has reached this far.
 
The guest on the episode was Shaukat Amanat Ali who with Shankar Mahadevan gave an amazing performance on “ Mitwa”. Shankar  Mahadevan also sang “ma” from Taare Zameen Pe which moved everybody to tears.   - SAMPURN
