LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com) — The newest addition to ABC’s kitty of shows Detroit 187 was supposed to be a series of real life documentary. The crew were to film the Police as they walked their beat. But unfortunately during the filming the crew had to face a very intense shootout.
After the series went back to the drawing board and finalized on the cast, the series was re-invented as a hard hitting crime thriller. Michael Imperioli went abroad and the series as we saw last night was formed. It was really tough to get excited about the show knowing that Michael Imperioli had a disastrous outing with the US adaptation of the British show Life on Mars. So does his new venture passes the Acid test? The show revolves around Detectives Washington and Fitch as they investigates a double murder in a pharmacy. Additionally Longford and Mahajan was hot on heels of a killer who killed an attorney.
Execution wise the series “Detroit 187″ comes on top over the show “My Generation” which suffers from a very poor execution. Even though the pilot episode starts off as a bit unfocused it gains momentum as the episode progresses. The eclectic cast of characters also add to the flavor of the show. Interestingly enough Michael Imperioli’s character breaks the shackles of the slightly eccentric detective in his handling of the hostage situation in the final act. Overall the real challenge of the show is to keep the high momentum, that was provided by the final act of the pilot. That said the show is turning out pretty good and we are looking forward to the next episode.
