Solomon Burke Passes Away

AMSTERDAM (GaeaTimes.com)- The American Grammy award-winning singer and songwriter and Hall of Fame inductee Solomon Burke died of natural causes at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport. The grieving family of the singer released a statement confirming the death of gospel and soul singer. He was 70 year old.
Solomon Burke’s family released a statement in his website where it was stated that this is the time of great sorrow to the family. The statement also mentioned that the family truly appreciates all the support and well wishes from his friends and fans. The statement did not elaborate on the cause of death of the soul singer. However, the statement that Solomon Burke’s love, his music and his love will continue to live within the family forever. Robert van Kapel, the Schiphol Airport police spokesman said in his statement that the legendary singer breathed his last on a plane at Schiphol. The “Cry To Me” singer arrived at a plane on Sunday and was even scheduled to perform at a show on Tuesday. Jerry Wexler, the Atlantic Records producer once said that Solomon Burke is the best soul singer of all time.
Willem Venema, the organizer of Solomon Burke’s concert at Netherlands told in his statement that the singer was travelling with his daughter and manager who witnessed the death of the veteran singer. An officer at Schiphol’s mortuary has reportedly said that Solomon Burke’s body will be returned to United States as soon as the administrative formalities are complete. The whole music industry expressed their condolences at the sudden demise of the singer. Anti- Records President Andy Kaulkin once praised the singer saying that the “popular music” today would not have been in its current place without Solomon Burke.
