Peters, Stritch stay on in ‘A Little Night Music’

NEW YORK — Bernadette Peters and Elaine Stritch are extending their roles in “A Little Night Music” for a few more months on Broadway.

The duo, who replaced Catherine Zeta-Jones and Angela Lansbury in the Broadway revival this summer, were originally scheduled to leave in November. Now they’ll stay until Jan. 9.

Peters and Stritch have won raves since they joined the production at the Walter Kerr Theatre, with critics saying they added new vitality to the show.

“A Little Night Music” features a score by Stephen Sondheim and a book by Hugh Wheeler. Perhaps its most famous songs are “Send in the Clowns” and “A Weekend in the Country.”
