LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- All the regular viewers of the hit Discovery Channel show “Deadliest Catch” are well-acquainted with captain Sig Hansen and Jonathan and Andy Hilstrand, who appear in the rather interesting show that provides the audiences with a glimpse of their fishing expedition in the Bering Sea. However, there is a piece of news that is likely to come as a huge disappointment for all the ardent followers of the show as the three captains would not be part of the popular reality series any longer.

The decision of quitting “Deadliest Catch” was supposedly taken by the three fishermen after Discovery network took legal action against them for allegedly breaching a contract for a spin-off show that had been signed between them. According to the lawsuit that has been filed by the network, the Hilstrands brothers did not follow the terms of the deal which required them to complete the filming of the spin-off project “Hilstranded” that was all set to make its debut this fall. However, a lawyer representing Jonathan and Andy Hilstrand has revealed to the media that the lawsuit was nothing short of ‘extortion’ and it could resulted in the fishermen selling off their boats and firing their crews.

Captain Sig Hansen pledged his support to Jonathan and Andy Hilstrand while pointing out that he wanted the people to know that at this moment, the captains are unanimous in their support towards the Hilstrand brothers. Meanwhile, a joint statement has been released by the fishermen in which it has been noted that due to the current situation in the network, they were unable to continue with “Deadliest Catch.”
