‘No Ordinary Family’ Premieres On ABC

LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- Monday night saw the premiere of ABC’s much anticipated offering, ‘No Ordinary Family’. Considering that the hit series ‘Heroes’ is officially canceled, ABC has found a replacement superhero drama that is sure to keep their 18-24 demo happy. ABC has also brought in elements of family drama into the show, which gives it a higher chance of success in the long run. The critics have received the show well and considering the strong cast and the promise of the pilot, the show is expected to do well in the future.
The plot of ‘No Ordinary Family‘ revolves around the Powell family who acquire supernatural powers after surviving a plane crash near the Amazon river. With each of the family members acquiring select powers, they are seen to be coming to terms gradually with their abilities. Jim, the head of the family and an artist realizes that he has acquired super strength. He is seen endowed with a sudden purpose in life and wants to become a hero. His wife Stephanie, who is a scientist, is blessed with the power of speed after passing through the magical waters. Their daughter, Daphne, realizes that she has acquired telepathic powers and can now hear the thoughts of others even when she does not want to. The 14 year old son who suffered from a learning disability before, now realizes that he has acquired genius like intelligence and extraordinary mental abilities.
Among some of the critics who have given a positive response to ‘No Ordinary Family‘, Mathew Gilbert said that the show is best when it keeps the humor in the forefront. He also said that the show has a great future only if the writers keep it simple.
