Musical ‘Catch Me If You Can’ finds a theater
NEW YORK — Music by the Beatles will give way to a story of a con artist at The Neil Simon Theatre next year.
Producers of “Catch Me If You Can” say their musical adaptation of the story made into a Stephen Spielberg-directed film will officially open on Broadway on April 10.
“Rain: A Tribute to the Beatles” will be in the theater until Jan. 2.
The upcoming musical’s book is by Terrence McNally, who wrote “Love! Valour! Compassion!”
Jack O’Brien, director of “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels,” will direct the musical.
The music was written by Marc Shaiman, who collaborated with Scott Wittman on the lyrics. Both worked on “Hairspray.”
Casting will be announced later. The musical first opened in Seattle in 2009.
