Nielsen: Univision hits a TV ratings milestone
NEW YORK — Television’s Spanish-language Univision network has reached a historic milestone.
The Nielsen Co. says Univision was the most popular network among viewers 18 to 49 years old last week. That’s the first time in the United States a Spanish-language station has beaten the English ones in that key TV demographic.
That age group is considered so important to advertisers that ABC, NBC and Fox pay more attention to those ratings than they do for viewers as a whole.
Univision’s popular soap operas reached key points in their stories last week. It was a slow week of reality and reruns at the English broadcast networks.
