Archie Panjabi Bags First Emmy Award

LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- The 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards which was held with much elan at the Nokia Theater on Sunday night turned out to be a dream come true for English actress Archie Panjabi. The 38-year-old actress who won wide acclaim for her herself with her work in flicks such as “East is East” and “Bend It Like Beckham” received the much-coveted Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series award for her role in the CBS series ‘The Good Wife” in the ceremony that was held last night.

In order the take home the award, Archie Panjabi had to beat a number of noted actresses who were also nominated in the same category. The Indian born actress is surely on cloud 9 after she left behind actresses such as Christine Baranski, Rose Byrne, Christina Hendricks, Sharon Gless as well as Elisabeth Moss. Archie Panjabi who looked ravishing in a black Tadashi Shoji gown was visibly excited to have won the very first Emmy award of her career when she went up stage to receive the honor after being announced as the winner in the best supporting actress in drama category. Later, the actress revealed to the media that winning an Emmy award was just beyond her wildest dreams given the fact that when she commenced her career in England, getting a job was in itself a big deal.

While talking to the media, Archie Panjabi also noted that initially during her career she was always offered role close to her ethnicity but she always intended to edge characters that would have nothing to do with her country of origin.
