Remembering Mitch Miller

LOS ANGELES(GaeaTimes.com) — Mitch Miller, the music producer who was responsible for nurturing musicians like Vic Damone, Patti Page died at the age of 99 years. He was credited for his creation of the sound that defined the golden era of 1950’s and 60’s.
His public spat with the legendary Frank Sinatra was widely known. In 1951 he convinced Frank to record the song “Mama Will Bark”. They had a lot of arguments over the content of the song. When it was finally released this song was regarded as Frank Sinatra’s worst recording. He also blamed Miller for the downfall of his career. Mitch Miller was quoted as saying
When I came to Columbia, he was already at the nadir of his career. He had lost his television show, he had lost his movie contract, he was chasing after Ava [Gardner], he was behind in his income taxes. In short, his records would not sell, his voice was gone.
Tony Bennet, another legendary musician often thanked Mitch for boosting his Career. He will be remembered for turning down Elvis Presley for asking too much money. He hosted the top rated musical variety show called Sing Along With Mitch. With his death the American Music Industry has suffered a great loss.
