iCarly’s Show Updates Available in iCarly.com

LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)c — Nowadays, millions of kid are tuning in to watch the latest exploits of an ever-smiling teenage female star. They follow her every move over the net and rushes out to buy her CD as soon as it hits the shop. We are not talking about Disney’s Hannah Montana. Its Nickelodeon’s new star “iCarly”, starring 17 year old actress/singer Miranda Cosgrove.

The series, which was launched in 2007, features iCarly and a group of teenage friends who host a Web show together. It took some work for Cosgrove to feel comfortable talking directly into the camera when doing their Web show. All of her acting work before “iCarly” had been in more traditional comedies. But according to her,

Now it’s my favorite part. I love doing the Web show because we do so many crazy things.

Viewers are urged to send e-mails, make videos of their dance moves, pass on birthday wishes, send text messages and share photos that might be used on the show through icarly.com. This interactive session between the cast and the fans is a big factor behind iCarly’s success. Beside, there’s so much laughter from the cast and crew that it sounds more like a family reunion than a TV show production.

It was show creator Dan Schneider, who decided to make “iCarly” so interactive. In an interview he said,

When I started making shows, I didn’t just want to make little kids laugh. I wanted to make everyone laugh. But, I do have a good understanding of kids because I am a big kid. I think I’m amused by what amuses kids but bring an adult sensibility to it.

He also added that any kid with a camera has a video over the You-tube these days. So he thought Miranda’s character should just start her own Web show. As the kids are in control of what they are doing, their popularity and success will be their’s only; they will not owe it to any adults.

The recent episode was a special one named “iGot a Hot Room“, which was aired on Friday. This gave the fans a first look at Carly’s bedroom.

According to Nickelodeon’s President of Online Programming and Development, Marjorie Cohn,

It’s hilarious, but also empowering and completely original,”Kids have really connected to the individuality celebrated in the series and love that the show extends beyond television and that they can also experience new iCarly content online.
