‘Elf’ to open on Broadway as a musical in November
NEW YORK — The hit movie “Elf” will be making a special holiday visit to the New York stage, transformed into a new Broadway musical.
The musical’s producers, Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures and Unique Features, announced Wednesday that previews for “Elf” begin Nov. 2 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. The opening is set for Nov. 10.
Based on the 2003 film starring Will Ferrell, “Elf” tells the tale of a young orphan who mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported back to the North Pole. He is raised there unaware that he is human, not an elf, until his enormous size compels him to face the truth.
The limited run ends Jan. 2.
