LONDON - Welsh beauty Catherine Zeta Jones has received a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
The Oscar-winning actress received a CBE for her services to the film industry and charity.
Zeta Jones was honoured alongside actress Sophie Okonedo and Midsomer Murders actor John Nettles, who are both given OBEs.
Writer Ronald Harwood, who won 2003’s best-adapted screenplay Oscar for The Pianist, received a knighthood.
Veteran Coronation Street stars Eileen Derbyshire and Barbara Knox gain MBEs in the soap’s 50th anniversary year.
Knox, 76, said she was “absolutely shocked and delighted at the same moment” to be recognised.
Actress Anne Reid, who played Ken Barlow’s first wife Valerie in the show during the 1960s, is also appointed an MBE.
“I have always tried to do my job as best I can but I never dreamt in a million years I would be honoured in this way,” the BBC quoted Reid as saying. (ANI)
