Idol Star Bowersox Splits Up With Boyfriend

AMERICAN IDOL runner-up CRYSTAL BOWERSOX split up with her longtime boyfriend TONY KUSIAN on the eve of the talent show’s big finale.

The singer, who finished second to Lee DeWyze on Wednesday night (26May10), has revealed she and her ex-partner agreed to split earlier this week (beg24May10).

Announcing the sad news on Idol host Ryan Seacrest’s radio show on Thursday morning (27May10), Bowersox said, “He wasn’t cool with the lifestyle. I didn’t break up with him… It was a mutual thing.

“It’s cool though, we’re both logical, grown adults. He’s a small town guy and that’s fine, I’m a small town girl, but I want this. I want this more than anything - this career, this lifestyle. I didn’t think he was up for it.”

But the young mum, 24, admits her now-ex’s timing could have been better: “I was a little sad that he did it on performance day,” but she’s grateful her boyfriend supported her throughout her run on the talent show.

She adds, “He’s been amazing, he’s stuck it out through this whole thing. I was really hoping that he was going to come to the finale. We’re going to be friends for a long time.”
