NEW DELHI - Bollywood filmmakers have found a potent tool in social networking sites to scout for talent — first it was Karan Johar and now Mahesh Bhatt is looking for fresh faces for his next project through microblogging site Twitter.
“Is someone out there waiting to become a star? Looking for three new faces for a brave new film of ours. A leading lady and two leading men. Send details with a simple picture to email@example.com,” Bhatt posted on his Twitter page.
Sometime back, Johar too had posted a comment on the site calling for newcomers for one of his projects.
Karan Johar roots for Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Kites’
Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar, who attended the New York premiere of Hrithik Roshan’s ambitious project “Kites”, described the film as being “outstanding”.
“‘Kites’ is outstanding and Hrithik is beyond brilliant. Barbara (Mori) lights up the screens and connects on all levels… it’s a winner,” the director posted on his Twitter account.
Directed by Anurag Basu, “Kites” is a love story that crosses borders and linguistic barriers. It’s a tale of romance between an Indian man and a Mexican beauty.
It also stars Actress Kangana Ranaut. Produced by Hrithik’s father Rakesh Roshan and distributed by Reliance Big Pictures, “Kites” will release worldwide in Hindi May 21 and in English May 28.
I convinced Manisha Koirala on e-mail to do my film: Onir
Director Onir, whose forthcoming film “I Am” stars actress Manisha Koirala as a Kashmiri Muslim girl, revealed that he convinced her for the role on e-mail.
“When I was casting for my film, I knew Manisha would fit the bill for the role of a Kashmiri Muslim. She was in the US that time, so I sent her an e-mail and convinced her to do the film,” he said.
“I Am” also stars Sanjay Suri, Juhi Chawla, Rahul Bose and Nandita Das, among others.
