Los Angeles (GaeaTimes.com) Tony Awards Nominations were announced this morning today, May 4th. The Tony Awards will be broadcast on CBS television network on Sunday, June 13, 2010. It will be a live show of three hours from Radio City Music Hall. Though it is known that Tony Awards honor Broadway productions, there are aplenty familiar faces from film and TV. Scarlett Johansson and Live Schreiber are nominated for ‘A view from the bridge’. Christopher Walken is selected for ‘A behanding in spokane’. Catherine Zeta-Jones is nominated for ‘A Little Night Music’ and Laura Linney for ‘Time Stands Still’. Kelsey Grammer is nominated for ‘La Cage aux Folles’. ‘Fela!’ and ‘La Cage Aux Folles’ have the most number of nominations with 11 nominations each. Here are the details of the nominations.

In The Next Room or the Vibrator Play, Next Fall, Red, Time Stands Still are nominated for the best play award. The best musical nominations are for American Idiot, Fela!, Memphis, Million Dollar Quartet. Best Director for Musical are Christopher Ashley (Memphis), Marcia Milgrom Dodge (Ragtime), Terry Johnson (La Cage), Bill T. Jones (Fela). The names within the brackets indicate the name of the play. Best Director Play nominations are Michael Grandage (Red), Sheryl Kaller (Next Fall), Kenny Leon (Fences), Gregory Mosher (A View from the Bridge). Best Lead Actor in a Play nominations are Jude Law for Hamlet, Alfred Molina for Red, Liev Schreiber for A View From The Bridge, Christopher Walken for A Behanding and Denzel Washington for Fences. The Best Lead Actress nominations for a Play are Viola Davis for Fences, Valerie Harper for Looped, Linda Lavin for Collected Stories, Laura Linney for Time Stands Still, Jan Maxwell for The Royal Family.
