Nine Arrested Over Fake Oscar Passes

Nine men were arrested for trespassing on the red carpet at Sunday’s (07Mar10) Academy Awards after allegedly crashing the event with counterfeit press badges.

According to TMZ.com, police approached a group of German men wearing passes with logos from MTV and Citigroup at approximately 4.45 pm. local time, after security staff were alerted the badges were fakes.

The unnamed men were arrested for trespassing and taken to a nearby jail. They are are expected to be released on Monday morning (08Mar10).

They’re not the only fans accused of trespassing during the star-studded event - another fan who jumped a fence and raced towards the Kodak Theatre was hauled to the ground by police when he attempted to evade capture. The unnamed man was held on $5,000 (GBP3,333) bail.
