Barrino’s Fan Mail Scare

FANTASIA BARRINO has increased her security during her run in THE COLOR PURPLE after receiving a threatening letter on Friday (19Feb10).

The former American Idol winner immediately alerted police after finding the alarming letter in a pile of fan mail she was reading following a performance in the stage show at Los Angeles’ Pantages Theater.

Her manager claims the note contained a number of racial slurs as well as the line, “Go back (to) where you came from and die.”

Barrino is now being looked after by guards and authorities are screening items sent to her dressing room.

But the defiant singer is refusing to let the incident keep her from performing, telling TMZ.com, “I will not be defeated by one isolated person’s hatred.”
