georgelopezAre you waiting for a hilarious late-night talk show? Stop waiting because Mexican-American comedian George Lopez is set to premiere his weeknight program, ‘Lopez Tonight’, on TBS this week.
Lopez Tonight is a hour-long late-night talk show aired by TBS on Nov.9.
George Lopez is the first Latino to host a late-night talk show on an English-language network. The show features a lot of audience interaction with a high energy format.

George’s guests tonight are “Desperate Housewives” actress Eva Longoria Parker, talk show host and “American Idol” judge Ellen DeGeneres, NBA all-star Kobe Bryant and rock legend Carlos Santana. Some guests expected to appear on the show include Dane Cook, Marc Anthony, Sandra Bullock, Justin Timberlake, Queen Latifah, and Samuel L. Jackson.

The most entertaining audience game in the show will be “Bullet Wound… Not a Bullet Wound.”

The show is for the new America, according to Lopez. He will use his new talk show to create a more diverse kind of mainstream entertainment.

Lopez will host the talk show in Spanish, just as he did in his sitcom The George Lopez Show, which ran for five years on ABC. The show was built on a blend of generic family jokes and a bit of Latino flavor. The show retained a broad audience, who laughed even if they didn’t speak Spanish.

Executives at TBS are encouraging Lopez to incorporate that inclusive approach on his talk show.

So we hope that “Lopez Tonight” will be a big hit just like George Lopez’s previous smoking hot on ABC sitcom .

I agree with Mary’s comments. Your show for a new America, as you say, should not include prejudice material. Those years have haunted us for hundreds of years and it is time to take the “new American attitude” and leave out the put downs and continual insults on ANY race, creed or color. We are ALL part of one America and its time to support the acceptance and appreciation for our differences. We need to be united as a nation and not a division of races. Time to forever forget those words of uncalled for ridicule in action or comments in any form and instead create some new humor that incorporates and includes us all. We are all responsible for changing those past transgressions and making this country a happy place for us all. Sincerely, Bill

I was watching George Lopez Late Show and was actually left with hurt feelings and a different impression of the man I thought was a good, humorous actor with a decency about himself. He was telling jokes and funnies and making fun of “white people” during this bit . . . and I realized he sounded very prejudice . . . like that is ok coming from ANY one, but I was so surprised and suddenly left with a distaste in my mouth and I found some other show to watch. I usually watch the old George Lopez shows on Nick at Night and even those were just no good, somehow I just lost interest, all purely out of emotion. I realize some jokes are just darn funny, but I felt while one joke might have been funny . . . seeing he was so enjoying telling more and showing what appeared to be a prejudice side of a man I once had enjoyed be entertained by. I did not like it and feel the humiliation in reference to the point where I am even embarrased for this comedian. I do hope I do not see or hear anymore of this, but then right now I won’t be watching his show anymore as I do NOT want to listen to this side of the man. He is an actor after all, but who knew there was this prejudice side and how unbecoming of him. Sorry George, you didn’t need to stoop down to the level that others have in our history past!

Dear George Lopez

I have been watching your late night show and here are my comments:

Your stage what is it or where is it…you can’t see your band cant make out the players…who are very good. Your street questions how stupid…I have much better suggestions of what questions to ask…where are you getting these people on the street…your comedy is funny but your layout and stage doesn’t impress me.

Something you can think about:

Have your band more visible when you pan over to them
Your stage I can see a set taken form the movie Freda
People on the street that depends on the questions you ask, example ask questions that relate to becoming a US citizen will the alien get it right or will the citizen questions could range form food, place of birth, type of work ect.ect.ect.

I hope your show is a great success …I will keep watching with my famila and amigos from San Fernando, CA

Dear Mr. Lopez,

I have been a big fan of yours since the 90’s.I am Puerto Rican and have always enjoyed your latin humor.I went to one of your shows at The Carefree Theatre in West Palm Beach, FL back in the day and sat in the front row which made me become a great fan. I am just writing because I am very dissapointed about your show this evening, politics shouldn’t of been your focus…I thought that was so uncall for…I was looking forward to you and your natural humor not politics…I am a fan of Andy Garcia and due to your opening on the show I changed the channel…I hope you consider my comment but if you don’t then I will realize that I need to give support to other comedians that are worth watching!!! Best of Luck, Vanessa Merced
