Rockers FALL OUT BOY have decided to retire their cover version of MICHAEL JACKSON’s BEAT IT as a sign of respect for the late King of Pop.

The pop-punk band delighted fans when they began performing the hit live in concert, and in 2008, they teamed up with singer John Mayer to record the track, before filming a music video and releasing Beat It as a single.

But bassist Pete Wentz insists they have no plans to play the song again, following Jackson’s death in June (09).

He tells MusicRadar.com, “We never got the chance to (meet) him. I don’t even know if he heard it. We kind of recorded it on a whim, like, nine months before he passed away. We’ve decided not to play it anymore. It’s his song, you know? We put it on the record because we did a video for it, but it’s definitely his song.”
