JAY-Z’s crowning moment at baseball’s World Series game between his beloved New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Phillies has been postponed by one day due to bad weather.

The rap superstar was set to perform his Big Apple anthem Empire State of Mind with fellow New York native Alicia Keys at the big game on Wednesday (28Oct09).

But Jay-Z will have to wait to hit the stage after Major League Baseball (MLB) officials ruled constructing a platform on a wet pitch at Yankees Stadium could prove disastrous.

In a statement released on Wednesday morning, an MLB spokesperson says, “Staging for the performance could adversely impact the field if it is wet, creating damaged and unsafe playing conditions.”

Jay-Z will now perform the track, which has become an unofficial New York anthem, during the pre-game ceremonies on Thursday (29Oct09).
