Wikipedia Locks Polanski page over child sex controversy

LONDON - Wikipedia has locked the page on director Roman Polanski who has been detained for an unlawful sex case.
Editors of the online encyclopaedia are divided on whether his success as a film-maker should be emphasized on the page or his arrest over unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor.
“The fact that he is a rapist ought to be the very first thing that the reader sees in the article,” the Telegraph quoted a Wikipedia editor as stating in a forum linked to the Polanski page.
It added: “I don’t care if every one of his films won him an Oscar.”
However, another editor argued: “Polanski is first and foremost notable for his work as film director,” adding that without those accomplishments he “wouldn’t even be in the news”.
Also, another professional was of the opinion to combine film work and sex crime in a compromise lead along the lines of “Polanski is a Polish-French film director, producer, writer, actor and convicted child molester.”
Polanski had pleaded guilty in 1978 to having unlawful sexual intercourse with 13-year-old Samantha Geimer in America, but had ater fled to a different country. (ANI)
