Julie White is set for ‘The Understudy’ off-B’way
NEW YORK — Julie White hasn’t yet finished her summertime gig in the Public Theater production of “Twelfth Night” in New York’s Central Park, but she already has her next theater job lined up.
The Tony-winning actress will star in Theresa Rebeck’s “The Understudy,” a comedy about one of the most underappreciated jobs in theater. The Roundabout Theatre Company production, directed by Scott Ellis, will open Nov. 5 at off-Broadway’s Laura Pels Theatre. Previews begin Oct. 9.
White, who also plays Shia LaBeouf’s mother in the “Transformers” movies, is appearing as the servant Maria in the Public’s outdoor production of “Twelfth Night.” The Shakespeare comedy runs through July 12.

That’s good news for her. It’s nice to hear people with projects nowadays especially since Broadway is also affected by the global recession. |
