After her flick The Train with Emran Hashmi, she was not much seen in Bollywood. “I have been busy doing south films, one telagu and another in tamil. Both did very well. In fact that has made me choosy about my future offers. I do have offers’ in the future lined up but I am being really choosy considering the expectation levels have suddenly spurred up a lot. Now people want me to deliver a lot tat In fact is slightly making me nervous but yes I intend to do one south film every year,” she adds further.
Talking about her stint in the film Kirkit and Paying Guest the actress briefs, “I’m happy to do two comedy films. People had certain notion about me that either I can do a romantic thing like in Good Luck or Tormented house wife in The Train, little glamorous actress in Halla Bol. So it’s a refreshing thing that I am offering them a comedy.”
It’s been a huge challenge for me performing comedy and I would say that it is rather tough doing comedy than doing serious roles. Doing slapstick depends a lot on how other actor response and the comic timings, give and take of dialogues etc.” She is waiting for the response of audience to see whether they accept her in this new avatar or not.
Kirkit is a comedy movie based on IPL and cricket. Sayali will be playing a negative shade in it although the film is comedy. My character in the film is not opposite any hero. I basically choose the character of being negative as it has a strong message to give out to the audience, its fine to have cricket match between two cities and to commercialise it but not make it like a war. English men say divide and rule, it comes again.”
In Paying Guest she plays the role of a TV channel head. “In this film there are 4 boys who are paying guest, Shreyas Talpade, JAved Jaffery, Vatsal Seth and Ashish Choudhary. So my character is one who help them seeing that they find some money to be paying guest and also see that their friendship is going,” she chirps.
“My role is very supportive. Also have love interest with Javed with that there is special relationship shown between me and my parents also. So I have these three tracks apart from the comedy going around,” she adds further.
Sayali has some pre assumption as the film has big cast but things turned out to be pleasant for her. “I have initially thought that it’s a Subhash Ghai film and I am relatively new but things were put to rest. Thankfully we don’t have actors that want to pull down other actor. Generation have changed, people have changed and today we have matured actors who like to find their own space. I am glad that I found such co-actors,” she exclaimed.
Not many people know that she was too offered TV shows but she refused as wanted to concentrate on her filmy career. “I don’t see my self doing TV as of now. Somewhere I still have longing for Bollywood hits and then I think I will have my mental concentration to jump on small screen. I am not that kind of person who likes to do something to get the short term fame. I believe in making film DVD collections rather than quick money reality shows,” quips the actress.
Elaborating on her upcoming movies, she divulges, “I am doing a film in Relaince called Chalu Movies. It’s a drama, a film in a film where I again play an actress, rather a small time girl becoming an actress. There are other characters also like Rajpal yadav, divya dutta, shekhar suman.”
“Along side, I am doing a picture with Wilson Louis called Shout which is horror in genre,” concludes the actress.
