Myrtle Beach music park reopens May 23
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — A South Carolina amusement park is unveiling plans for its reopening later this month.
Freestyle Music Park in Myrtle Beach, originally established as Hard Rock Park a year ago, plans to open on May 23.
The new owners have been making changes to make the park more family friendly.
In one change, The Led Zeppelin roller coaster which played “Whole Lotta Love” has been renamed “The Time Machine” and will feature soundtracks of songs from the 1960s through today. The ride has five different soundtracks so repeat riders can have different experiences. The coaster climbs 155 feet into the air and reaches 65 mph.
The Sun News of Myrtle Beach also reported that the amusement park will feature a show called “Flip Five Live” in which teenage performers dance, tumble, sing and wear bright costumes as they encourage younger children to dance and sing along.
Members of the military, firefighters and emergency workers will be admitted free through May 31. Anyone with a valid identification card from the Carolinas will get $10 off admission through June 14.
Hard Rock Park opened last year but closed in September when its owners filed for bankruptcy protection. FPI MB Entertainment bought it for $25 million and changed the name.
