MUMBAI - Lakme Studio joined forces with TIGI Catwalk collection and launched Catwalk’s Sleek Mystique collection - the latest salon innovation for silky straight hair styling products - in designer Arjun Saluja’s show at the Lakme Fashion Week Saturday.

Saluja is elated to get an opportunity to escalate his collection “Resurrection” to an international platform.

“To bring this collection together with Lakme Studio and TIGI Catwalk, the point was to create something which is classic, something that has shape, is angular, straight, razor sharp, going with the product Sleek Mystique,” Saluja told IANS after the show here.

“I kept the colour quite muted and yet dramatic. The shapes were according to body contouring in different kind of textures,” he said.

“When you have tied up with an international brand, a bigger international platform opens up for your collections,” he added.

The designer said when Lakme approached him, he went and saw the range. “We got together and created the classic collection which works with the whole image of the brand,” he added.

His collection “Resurrection” focused on the connect between the sleek strength of budo, the rebellion of the Japanese underground, and his own fascination with the dark mystical sides of the Japanese art form.

“It actually goes with the psyche of Japanese martial art. It’s not about the physicality of it, rather it’s about the mindset, the dedication and the process that you go through to become a martial artiste,” Saluja said.
