Actress AMERICA FERRERA is celebrating after longtime boyfriend RYAN PIERS WILLIAMS asked her to be his wife.

The Ugly Betty star first met her beau while she was studying at the University of Southern California and the writer/producer cast her in a student film.

Ferrera sparked speculation she was engaged earlier this week (14Jun10) when she sported a diamond on her ring finger at the Edinburgh Film Festival screening of The Illusionist in Scotland - and now her representative has confirmed the happy news to People.com.

It tops a special summer for the actress, who will be honoured on America’s Independence Day (04Jul10) with a marathon of her now-axed Ugly Betty show on U.S. TV channel TV Guide Network.
