Manisha Koiralas First Malayalam Movie Elektra

June 8, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Manisha Koirala, once, a of the leading actress of Bollywood, has done quite a number of Tamil movies. The bubbly actress is now venturing into the Malayalam movies with director Shyamaprasad’s upcoming project titled Elektra.
The director is renowned for his representation of complex human emotions. This time too, his film Elektra deals with turbulent relationships within a family. The movie is based on a classic Greek play. Manisha is paired opposite the national award winning actor Prakash Raj.
Director Shyamaprasad said, “This film is based on one of the plays I studied during my days in the School of Drama, Thrissur. I always wished to adapt it on screen”
The Southern beauty Nayantara is essaying the title role of ‘Elektra’, who is the daughter of Prakash and Manisha. Nayantara is very excited about her role of Elektra Alexander, who has a troubled family background.
Manisha Koirala has earlier acted in a few Tamil films like Bombay, Muthalvan, Indian and Baba, but Elektra is going to be her first Malayalam film ever.
Actors Skanda, Biju Menon, P Sreekumar and KPAC Lalitha are playing other important roles in the film. Sanu J Verghese, the man behind the camera of the Hindi film Karthik Calling Karthik, is looking after the cinematography. Alphons Joseph (of the song Aaromale from Vinnaithandi Varuvaya) is composing music for the film.
Under the banner of Rasika Entertainment, Vindhyan, a close buddy of Shymaprasad, is producing Elektra. The film is likely to hit theatres during the festival of Onam.
