Moviemaker JAMES CAMERON has been added to the problem-solving task force seeking a way to halt the oil slick disaster in the Gulf of Mexico.

The Avatar and Titanic director, who is a deep-sea diving pioneer, has reportedly joined the think tank sessions being held in an effort to plug the hole in the exploded Deepwater Horizon Rig.

Cameron met with experts and federal officials on Tuesday (01Jun10) as the boffins attempted to come up with a quick fix for the massive environmental disaster.

He’s not the only celebrity caught up in the oil spill - Kevin Costner is in the Gulf promoting new oil-filtering technology created by his brother and The Usual Suspects star Stephen Baldwin is shooting a documentary about the clean-up efforts.
