DES MOINES, IOWA (GaeaTimes.com)- The death of the celebrated bassist of the popular metal band Slipknot has come as a huge shock to fans all around the world, and this sentiment was echoed in the press conference held by Slipknot on Tuesday, a day after Paul Gray was found dead in a hotel room in Urbandale in Iowa. The members of the bands appeared in the press conference, which was held on Tuesday in the Wells Fargo Arena. The members of the band were accompanied by Brenna Gray, the widow of Paul Gray, who is pregnant with the first child of the couple, and also the brother of the deceased, Tony Gray.

In the Slipknot press conference, the members of the band appeared in their signature black outfits, but sans the masks that they always wear. The evidently emotional members went on to say that they will sorely miss Paul Gray, who, they stressed, was the “essence of the band.” In fact, Paul Gray was the founder member of Slipknot. They said that Paul Gray had not only been an exceptional bassist, but also a great human being and friend.

The frontman of the band, Corey Taylor summed up Paul Gray in one word, “love.” The drummer of the band, Joey Jordison was unable to say much in the Slipknot press conference, clarifying that it is very difficult for him, and summed up his feelings by just saying “I love you, Paul.” Brenna Gray hoped that their daughter, who is due to be born in September this year, would remember her father as the person he was.
