Iowa (GaeaTimes.com) Paul Gray, 38 year old bassist of the masked heavy metal band Slipknot was found dead at an Iowa hotel room on Monday. Iowa authorities are not suspecting foul play but the final conclusion can only be drawn when the report of his autopsy is completed on May 25, 2010.

Paul Gray was at the Plaza Hotel in Urbandale, Iowa. Slipknot’s members are primarily from this area. His body was found by an employee of the hotel. He has left behind a wife Brenna Paul, who is expecting a child.

Paul Gray had a 2003 arrest connected to drugs. A few are suspecting his death to be related to drug use. This fact reminds us of the death of contemporary genius Michael Jackson. However, some sources close to the band claimed that Paul Gray was not a drug addict. The possibility of death from drug overdose is almost non-existent as there was no mention of drug paraphernalia present in the hotel room.

Paul Gray was one of the founders of Slipknot when it started rolling in 1995. Their self titled debut in 1999 sold more than a million copies. In 2006, they won a Grammy for Best Metal performance of the year for the ‘Before I forget’ song. Apart from the hideous disfigured masks, they are also known for affectionately calling their fans ‘maggots’. The live performances of Slipknot were very popular and they received many studio recordings.

The band mates of Paul Gray have not yet decided on the future plan for the Band or Gray
