Nixon Regrets Keeping Her Lover Hidden

CYNTHIA NIXON was forced to keep her true sexuality and her relationship with fiancee CHRISTINE MARINONI secret for months on the advice of her former publicist.
The Sex and the City star began dating the education activist after her marriage to Danny Mozes ended in 2003, but despite a flurry of rumours about her new girlfriend, the actress kept her news private.
And Nixon admits she wasn’t happy with her representative’s advice to remain ‘in the closet’.
She tells Advocate magazine, “(He was) a very nice man who I won’t name, but he does have a number of clients who are closeted.
“He just kept saying, ‘It’s your life, and it’s private, and that’s it.’ And we kept asking, ‘That’s the whole thing? We never move past that?’
“We’re at the playground with the kids, and pictures are taken of us, and we say, ‘No, she’s my friend?’?”
Nixon eventually parted ways with her publicist and decided to declare herself a lesbian and deal with the resulting media storm.
She adds, “I was like, ‘Really, we can just confirm?’ So that’s what we did. It was so fantastic.
“It was a little crazy for a while because there were people stationed outside my house. There was a mad scramble to figure out who she was. So many people I knew got calls. I’m always meeting people in my life who say, ‘You know, they thought it was me; I got a call.’”
