Snipes’ Shock At Mum’s Money Struggle

WESLEY SNIPES was left stunned when he found out his WILDCATS pay cheque was double the size of his mother’s annual salary.
The actor made his debut in the 1986 film, alongside Woody Harrelson and Goldie Hawn, and landed $30,000 (£18,750) for his role.
He was eager to inform his mum Marian of the news - but was left devastated when she revealed her lifelong financial struggle to him.
Snipes tells America’s GQ magazine, “She asked, ‘Did you say $30,000? Thirty…thousand…dollars? That’s twice as much as I make.’
“I was floored. I was on one high at one moment, and then I was on a low low low, just like that. I had no concept of the level of struggle that she was going through, none whatsoever.
“(I thought) You mean to tell me you’ve been (working) for almost ten years and all you make is $15,000, and they’re going to pay me more than you, and you have to get up at three o’clock in the morning?”
