Czech star Jaromir Jagr out with upper-body injury
VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Czech star Jaromir Jagr missed most of the second period and all of the third with an upper-body injury Tuesday night.
Jagr played less than a minute of the second period of the Latvia-Czech Republic game and was not on the bench with his teammates in the third.
In the second period, he was seen stretching his neck on the bench before going back toward the dressing room.
The Czechs started the final period ahead by two goals, hoping to advance to play Finland in the quarterfinals Wednesday.
The former NHL MVP was flattened by Russian Alex Ovechkin in his previous game on Sunday. But Jagr seemed fine during his seven shifts in the first period.
