Campbell In Tears At Elle Awards
By WENNTuesday, February 23, 2010
NAOMI CAMPBELL fought back tears as she accepted a prize for her charity work at the Elle Style Awards, dedicating the honour to tragic designer ALEXANDER MCQUEEN.
The supermodel was handed the outstanding contribution accolade by Sarah Brown, the wife of British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, at the annual ceremony in London on Monday night (22Feb10).
But Campbell looked emotional as she remembered McQueen, who died earlier this month (Feb10).
She told the audience, “I dedicate my award to a close friend who loved and cared about women, Alexander Lee McQueen.”
Carey Mulligan and Colin Firth continued their winning streaks from Sunday night’s (21Feb10) British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards, being named Actress and Actor Of The Year.
Twilight star Kristen Stewart was presented with the Elle Style Woman of the Year award, Claudia Schiffer was named Model Of The Year, while Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were lauded as Elle’s Style Icons of 2010.
Nicholas Hoult scooped the Breakthrough Talent honour and Florence And The Machine landed the Music prize.
Pregnant The X Factor judge Dannii Minogue was handed the Elle TV Star award by her sister Kylie.
