WASHINGTON - John Mayer has apologised if he caused offence to anyone after using the controversial “N word” in one of his interviews.

The singer issued an apology on his Twitter page after he said “black people love me” and that he had a “n***** pass” during the chat with Playboy.

“Re: using the ‘N word’ in an interview: I am sorry that I used the word. And it’s such a shame that I did because the point I was trying to make was in the exact opposite spirit of the word itself,” Us magazine quoted him as saying.

“It was arrogant of me to think I could intellectualize using it, because I realize that there’s no intellectualizing a word that is so emotionally charged,” he added.

Mayer also added to his apology: “I think it’s time to stop trying to be so raw in interviews…it’s gotten out of hand and I’ve created somewhat of a monster. I wanted to be a blues guitar player. And a singer. And a songwriter. Not a shock jock. I don’t have the stomach for it. Again, because I don’t want anyone to think I’m equivocating: I should have never said the word and I will never say it again.” (ANI)

wow, your view point is shallow & lacking credible defense.
I think the term was originated by merchants, making a dime, off slave trade.
It is not to far fetched that the Non-white/Colored(since u seem afraid to pick one) would be outraged at his flagrant use of the term, Nig.
You may have no spine, which is obvious in your self-righteous argument. But I do.
His view was not offensive. It was his ability to just let flow raw-ly, as if he did have forethought to unveil himself honestly.
Most outrageously, John Mayer’s interview blatantly went beyond misogyny and race ( for whatever reason we still use that term).
Your comment is so obviously frustrated. but what about ? Blks getting in an uproar, check this out. John Mayer has many “black” fans, and tours with many “black” musician, and was therefore influential in the ‘black community’ .
Besides most blks got mad b/c of comments similar to yours KBC…you’re making it look too easy for blk ppl to sound more educated, than those your’re defense of.
Drop blk/wht excuse for not being racist..it’s archaic.
had to amend, sry

So now all people who are not black must keep watch on our words.
In the ’70s to be called a honkey by blacks was not only acceptable but was used openly in movies and shows.Funny how the whites haven’t claimed racial slurs, they haven’t used it as a crutch and said,”We are being suppressed and trodden upon by whites.”
No,the simple facts are that this n-word controversy has gone too far,it’s a word used by the black/African American/colored,,whatever,,,community,but is held as a word only to be used by them and them alone?
Somewhere we,as humans, are falling short of having a backbone.Get over it,,it isn’t going to hurt you unless you allow it to.
