Irish band U2 held a concert on Sunday at the Rose Bowl Arena at Pasadena in California. The show was streamed on YouTube. It is a kind of first experience for the band, as this is the first time that a full length concert would be streamed on the internet. Previously, the band had streamed a part of it’s Popmart tour via Microsoft MSN. According to the band’s manager Paul McGuinness, this has been one of the objectives of the band for a very long time. As per a statement left by the manager on the official site of the band, this is U2’s way of paying a return visit to the legions of fans who come over to U2 concerts. This time, U2 even performed before those fans who couldn’t come to the concert.
The show at Rose Bowl was the band’s penultimate show for this year. The show, part of the band’s “U2 360 Degrees” tour, was the only one to be held at California. It was by far the biggest show in the whole tour, pulling in a crowd of over ninety six thousand people. The show was opened by the Black Eyed Peas. They brought along Slash of Guns N Roses fame as special guest who performed “Sweet Child O’ Mine.” U2 performed the biggest hits of it’s career like “With Or Without You” and “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For.”
The show being the band’s only performance in California, it was not surprising that almost the entire state and people from around came milling over. Fortunately, there was no traffic logging, an incident which is a regular at every Rose Bowl event. All in all, the band’s performance in California was a major success.
