WASHINGTON - Arnold Schwarzenegger has been requested to attend London Olympics 2012 as a special guest.

The 62-year-old actor-turned-California governor has been invited to see how East London has changed, since he resided and trained in the area as a bodybuilder in the 1960s.

Newham mayor Sir Robin Wales has extended a written invitation to Arnie, wherein he has sought the governator’s presence at his former gym in the London borough.

Contactmusic quoted Wales as writing: “The reason why I would like you to be in our company is that the vast majority of the Games, some 60 per cent, will be held within Newham - much of it within walking distance of your former training ground in Forest Gate.

“You have been an inspiration to weightlifters and sportspeople since you started winning titles during the 1970s, and have capitalised on your appeal by moving onto acting, and now governing California.”

“We hope he’ll be back to rekindle the bond,” he adds. (ANI)
