Macca admits he thought ‘The Beatles would last couple of years’

LONDON - Sir Paul McCartney has confessed that when the Beatles started making music, he thought they would only last “at best a couple of years”.

With the launch of the release of new Beatles computer game, The Beatles: Rock Band, the legendary musician has expressed his pride at the enduring popularity of the band.

Macca admitted that he thought they would only be briefly popular, and said that the band was proud that they were “inter-generational”.We thought, at best, The Beatles, would last a couple of years,” the Telegraph quoted him as writing in the Sun.

“When we got really successful we thought, if we were lucky, we might last for 10 years. And then things just got out of hand. Not it feels like The Beatles will go on forever,” he added.

He said he never ceased to be amazed at what happened with the band.

Paying tribute to the game, he said it was a “great thing and one way of getting the music out there in a new way”.

“It’s the modern age, it’s something that’s happening everywhere and I happen to like it,” he wrote.

“I like to embrace new things. The video game phenomenon is there, we had the option to take it on or turn our backs on it.

We took a lot of convincing, but we went for it. And you know what? I’m really pleased with it,” he added. (ANI)
