KOLKATA - Sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, who walked the ramp with sons Ayaan and Amaan on the opening day of the Kolkata Fashion Week-II Wednesday, described fashion as a “celebration of life”.

“I feel music is a celebration of life and even wearing good clothes is also a celebration of life,” he told reporters after his maiden tryst with the ramp in Zubair Kirmani’s designer white sherwani.

“This is my first fashion show. I am very happy that I am wearing traditional clothes. This is what I wear usually - sherwani, kurta, pyjama - and the credit goes to the designer,” he said.

He admitted he was initially a bit nervous, but the presence of Amaan and Ayaan gave him the confidence.

“Playing sarod is very different and this is my first experience and I really enjoyed it,” the maestro said.

Amaan and Ayaan, smartly turned out in black designer sherwanis, also echoed Amjad.

“We have done many concerts (sarod) with our father, but walking the ramp with him is a very new experience.”
