Naked Madonna painting sold on second attempt

LONDON - An oil painting depicting a naked Madonna with her ex-husband Guy Ritchie has been sold to a buyer for more than 15,000 pounds ($24,300) after it failed to sell at an earlier auction, it was announced Tuesday.

Auction house McTear’s Auctioneers in Glasgow, Scotland, said the painting, Madonna & Guy, by Scottish painter Peter Howson, had been sold for a record price.

But the private buyer, who wanted to remain anonymous, had asked for the exact sum to be kept secret.

The 2005 painting shows the singer reclining while Ritchie has a hand on her thigh. The couple married in Scotland in 2000 but divorced last November.
