LOS ANGELES - Hollywood actor Mel Gibson blasted fellow worshippers at a church for gossiping about his private life following his split from wife Robyn and threatened to shut it down.

The actor, who had visited the Holy Family Chapel in Agoura Hills, California, told the congregation including two priests and a visiting bishop that he would not stand by and be judged and scrutinised, reported femalefirst.co.uk.

Gibson, who recently confirmed his new girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva is pregnant with their first child, has allegedly threatened to close the church if he suspects the congregation are still talking about him.

“Mel approached the altar and went off. He tried to intimidate the parishioners by staring at everyone with his angry eyes. Mel even threatened to shut down the church if people kept gossiping about him, said a source.
