KOLKATA - Khadi and other natural fibres wil be the highlight of the three-day Indian Fashion Carnival here Sep 10-12 that will see designers like Bibi Russell, Zubair Kirmani, Vinit Agarwal and Soumitro Mondal showcasing their creations.

Organised by Mindscapes One, the event is a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.

“The theme of the Indian Fashion Carnival will be Khadi. It is our tribute to the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi. Khadi has a history of Indian culture and tradition. Khadi, as a fabric, is more chic, stylish, modern and fashionably responsible…,” said Pratik Sen, director of Mindscapes One.

The three-day event will host a total of 13 shows. The Indian Fashion Carnival will also have another section named “Weavers’ Village”, which will house weavers from different parts of the state who will showcase their designs.

“It is for the first time that a fashion event is being organised to promote the weavers…Khadi as a fabric is modern and fashionably responsible,” designer James Ferreira said.

Taking about the business that the fashion event hopes to do, Sen said: “This time we have cut down on shows so that there can be more B2B business. This time we have buyers from the US Dubai and other countries.”
