Satya Paul designer gives audience bow a miss

PUNE - Fashion designer Puneet Nanda wowed the audience at the Pune Fashion Week (PFW) here Thursday evening with his tarot cards inspired collection under his brand Satya Paul, but did not show up on stage after the event despite repeated calls for him.
Amrita Patki, who was Pond’s Femina Miss India-Earth 2006, was one of the models who sashayed down the ramp in Nanda’s collection. After the show, Nanda was called on the ramp as a custom under which the designer takes a bow in front of the audience.
However, he did not make an appearance. Even for the post show conference, Amrita made a solo appearance and gave answers on behalf of Nanda.
Asked where the designer was, a source said: “We have no idea, he was supposed to be here, don’t know where he is.”
Amrita tried to hold ground on her own.
Asked about her costume, Amrita told IANS: “I am wearing a red saree and a black blouse. I am representing the devil card in the tarot deck.”
The collection, brought forth the tarot history depicting an evolution of fashion and the blending of mystical elements inspired by the symbolism of the Empress, Lovers, Wands, Justice, and Chariot cards from the tarot deck.
The show saw models flaunting a mix of Indian and Indo-western garments comprising of sarees, kurtas, dresses and lehengas. The colour palette ranged from emerald, royal blue, fuchsias, reds and neutral earthen gold and deep tan.
