NEW YORK (GaeaTimes.com) - John Lennon’s prints valued at $ 100,000 were seized by the FBI on Wednesday. They were claimed by the FBI on the grounds of belonging to the government. The prints were there on the late Beatles’s application for permanent residency in the United States. The immigration document which also had John Lennon’s signature was supposed to be auctioned when the FBI intervened. The document was reportedly being auctioned by a person who claims to have bought it twenty years back. While some are speculating that the card was stolen, John Lennon’s former lawyer said that in 1976 a few documents of the late Beatles were stolen. Whether the particular print in question was stolen or not is not known.

Peter Siegel, one of the store’s owners, refused to hand over the print to the FBI but the agent returned with a subpoena and a colleague from the US department of homeland security. The document was taken away by the FBI on the ground that it was government property. However Peter Siegel reportedly said that if the document belonged to anyone else other than John Lennon, the FBI would not have intervened. Peter Siegel presented an alternative theory, by saying that perhaps John Lennon had an extra set for a friend.

John Lennon was an English singer and song writer and is remembered for his great music and his association with Beatles, of which he was a founding member. The band disintegrated in the 1970s but John Lennon continued to rise as a solo artist. He was shot dead in 1980 by one of his fans.
