Jimmy Shergill In Regional Flicks

July 27, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Just a few weeks back, hardly anyone even knew about this movie in Punjabi entitled, Mel Karade Rabba. The movie stars Jimmy Shergill among others and he seems to have an unprecedented and almost ‘clue-less’ sense of euphoria.
The movie started on a humble note and wasn’t even talked about in the metropolitans like Mumbai, Delhi or even Bangalore. This was because the prints of the film were being dispatched only in the movie-theatres across Punjab, Haryana and in foreign shores.
There was no hype of any sort in the national film level either. The surprise came later, news of the film’s record-breaking success started pouring in from all directions.
The film got an emancipated degree of popularity not just in the Punjab region but also in places like US, UK, Canada, and Australia. National blockbusters like 3 Idiots, Ghajini, and Gadar were being spoken in the same plane with Mel Karade Rabba.
It seems that the film Mel Karade Rabba had given rise to a new overseas celluloid star, namely Jimmy Shergill.
