MUMBAI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- Prakash Jha is a director who has given us hard hitting films with a backdrop of crime and politics and they have earned rave reviews from the viewers and critics alike. Today his much awaited film ‘Rajneeti’ is getting released all over India and the actors and director himself are betting big on its success. For actress Katrina Kaif this could prove to be a career defining movie which may silence her staunch detractors. For ‘Rajneeti’ the director uses the epic plot of Mahabharat and adapts it nicely to the modern Indian politics. The plot has various layers and the viewers may find it a little tough at the beginning of the movie to see what the director wants to convey.

The actors Manoj Bajpayee and Arjun Rampal are the descendants of a reigning political party. They part ways and Manoj Bajpayee joins hands with Ajay Devgan, who essays the role of a backward class leader. Ranbir Kapoor is the younger sibling of Arjun Rampal who gets involved in the family politics despite having no intention to do so. Those who have read Mahabharat will be able to draw analogy with the characters in ‘Rajneeti’.

The screenplay in ‘Rajneeti’ is crisp and it keeps you glued to the seat. The film buffs may also be able to find some similarities with the cult film Godfather. As far as performance goes, Ranbir Kapoor proves he is more than the chocolate boy he has played on screen so far. Nana Patekar and Arjun Rampal deliver restrained and credible performance too. Katrina Kaif overcomes her language barrier and puts in a dignified performance.
