Helen Wagner Dies At 91

NEW YORK (GaeaTimes.com)- Helen Wagner who is better known to her fans as Nancy Hughes of “As the World Turns” breathed her last on Saturday. The demise of the 91 years-old actress was made public by the production house of the soap opera in which she featured for more than 50 years. The TeleNext Media Inc., the New York based production house has however refrained from disclosing the manner and place of the death of the actress. The details of the funeral arrangements of Helen Wagner has also been kept a secret.

Confirming the news of the death of Helen Wagner, executive producer Christopher Goutman mentioned to media sources that the members of the ‘As the World Turns’ are “deeply saddened” by the demise of the actress. He said that Helen Wagner who has played the role of mild-mannered Nancy Hughes in the show for 54 years will be missed greatly by the crew of the show. He maintained that even though Helen Wagner is no more, she will always remain in the heart and soul of “As the World Turns”.

Helen Wagner entertained the audience with her role for 54 years. “As the World Turns” premiered on Apr 2, 1956 and the first line of the show was spoken by Helen Wagner. She received the love of the viewers for her show due to her true to life portrayal of the character. The TeleNext Media Inc. revealed that the actress registered a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for playing a character for 54 years. Helen Wagner was also honored in 2004 with a “Life Time Achievement Award” in Emmy Awards ceremony for her role as Nancy Hughes.
