Eight teenagers were hospitalised during a stampede at an ill-fated JUSTIN BIEBER concert in Australia on Monday (26Apr10).
The teen sensation was forced to cancel his only Australian gig in Sydney after chaos broke out among fans.
Fans camped overnight at Sydney Harbour to see their idol perform and, by Monday morning, thousands of youngsters were packed into the Circular Quay area.
The frenzied crowd began to surge, prompting police to cancel the event after “more than 100 teens” became “distressed”, according to officials.
Updated reports suggest one girl fractured her kneecap, while others were hospitalised with breathing and dehydration problems.
In a Twitter.com post to fans, a disappointed Bieber wrote, “I want to sing for my fans. I want to make this clear… I don’t cancel… I woke up this morning to the police canceling (sic) the show for safety reasons.”
